Sounds like a hybrid of The Great Cold Distance's heavier tendencies and Night Is The New Day's subtle touches. I'm okay with this. I'm also gonna echo Matt's thought's here; this song sounds VERY prog. Katatonia has had touches of prog in their music before, but never quite like this.
EDIT: Just put in a pre-order for the album. Cost me $18.25 with shipping for the standard edition. Definitely biting the bullet on this one. I'm pretty sure the Dark Adrenaline deluxe edition pre-order cost me less.

Here is a clip of a new song! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgt5tkRzJhsI really think that Katatonia is going to (officially) take the crown with this new album and prove themselves to become my new top favorite band; beating out other beloved bands like Flaw, Within Temptation, Tool, The Panic Division, Breaking Benjamin, A Perfect Circle and even Lacuna Coil.

Wow, thanks for sharing that Anthony! 'Buildings' is so f***ing epic. It's definitely confirmed that 'Dead Letters' is not the best song on the album (why it was chosen as the lead single...I have no clue?). I don't think I could dream up a more perfect band than Katatonia and DEAD END KINGS can not come fast enough. However from this point onward, I only want to hear 30 second clips of the other songs so I can save the full songs for the day I first listen (and try not to be tempted to listen to it online first).

Lacuna Coil has a place in my heart that no other band can take over. But if I had to shift favorite bands, Katatonia would be my first pick, just barely edging out Paradise Lost and The Cure.

I prefer Dead Letters if I had to choose one of these songs but both are brilliant.

Really? The difference for me is that I feel this song has a much more memorable chorus than 'Dead Letters'. That calm, quiet section right before the chorus kicks in gives me chills every time, along with the second part of the chorus where he sings "In the wind's siiiiigh" (or I think that's what he is saying?) is just perfect. My only complaint is that the song is a little short. But for what is given, I can't find any other faults. Such a great song. And I can only assume there will be even more gems on the album as well, so I know I am justified in being this ecstatic for the new cd! In fact I haven't been this excited for a new cd since NITND.

I am most looking forward to hearing the song that Silje of The Gathering sings on. I think it's awesome that they asked her to do a song with them.

I agree, I am also very anxious to hear that song. I loved her in Octavia Sperati especially. I wonder if it will be a heavier of softer track? If I had to guess, I think it will be a more mid-tempo/softer track, though bands don't typically put a ballad as track #2, so I'm not totally sure. It's also one of the shorter songs, so that also makes me think it won't be a soft/slow track.

I'm pretty sure it's a slower softer song from what I read.
