Lacuna Coil in Kerrang Magazine

The August 30th issue of Kerrang magazine (in the UK) ran an article on Kari Valo of HIM, and included a number of box-outs with information on the Goth movement and bands. At the end of the article. A section; ‘Grave New World’ named five bands as ‘Nu-Goth’. The top of the list was Lacuna Coil and the relevant section is printed here, containing a few interesting words. 🙂

The four other bands referenced were Moonspell, Nightwish, Theatre Des Vampires, and Sonata Nocturna.

Though the entry is small and obvious doesn’t compare to the four-page interview with Evanescence a few pages later (go figure), I do believe that a very positive mention in one of the UK’s more recognised Rock periodicals can only be a good thing.

From the Century Media newsletter…

If you haven’t seen it, here is some interesting news from the Official Century Media mailing list…

Addionally, according to the Century Media site you should get to your nearest newsstand and pick up the August 15th/Issue #723 of Entertainment Weekly. LACUNA COIL is mentioned in the “IF YOU LIKE” column in the CD review section on page 77

I don’t see Metal Edge or Entertainment Weekly in the UK, so if there’s any interesting information in either magazine please feel free to submit it!

Lacuna Coil In Metal Hammer Magazine

Lacuna Coil are interviewed in the UK’s August edition of Metal Hammer magazine. Additionally there is a short review of their performance in Danzig’s ‘Blackest of the Black’ bill in Los Angeles.
In the Interview in Augusts Metal Hammer magazine there is, of course mention made of the comparisions with the US group ‘Evanesence’ and you can’t help but notice the inference in the by-line “The Italian maestros show the USA what a real female-fronted Goth Metal band sound like”.
In response to the question Cristina responds with – “I just heard one song so far of theirs. They have some similarities to our band but they’re comparable to Linkin Park also. I don’t think that they tried to copy us – at least I hope not!”
Paul Rogers of Metal Hammer, enjoyed their performance at the 6500 capacity crowd at the Universal Amphitheatre in LA, where they opened with ‘Swamped’.
The review concluded with “[Lacuna Coil] retain an air of mystique, melody, and dark glamour even through their heaviest moments and are tailor-made for larger venues.
He gave them a 9/10!

Finally one of the photos accompanying the Interview had the following tag – “Lacuna Coil: they’ll be back in the UK come October”. Wild speculation, cut’n’paste error (surely they’re not confused wth October 2002?!?), or super news for UK Coilers?

If you have details, please please let me know!
